Allu Arjun’s highly anticipated sequel, Pushpa 2: The Rule, has set the Indian box office ablaze, breaking records to become the biggest opener in Indian cinema history. The action-packed film, directed by Sukumar and produced by Mythri Movie Makers and Muttamsetty Media, raked in an astonishing ₹175.1 crore nett on its opening day, according to Sacnilk. This massive haul surpasses the previous record of ₹133 crore held by SS Rajamouli’s RRR.
The Telugu version led the charge, contributing ₹95.1 crore, while the Hindi version added a remarkable ₹67 crore. The Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada versions earned ₹7 crore, ₹5 crore, and ₹1 crore, respectively. The movie witnessed extraordinary audience engagement, with an overall occupancy rate of 82.66% in the Telugu market and night shows peaking at 90.19%. The Hindi version also delivered a stellar performance, ranking as the second-highest contributor to the total.
With such an explosive start, Pushpa 2: The Rule has positioned itself as one of the highest-grossing Indian openers ever. Early projections indicate that the film could surpass ₹250 crore by the end of its opening weekend.
The sequel continues the thrilling saga of red sandalwood smuggling, with Allu Arjun reprising his iconic role as Pushpa Raj. Rashmika Mandanna returns as Srivalli, and Fahadh Faasil as Bhanwar Singh Shekawat, joined by an ensemble cast including Jagapathi Babu, Dhananjaya, Rao Ramesh, Sunil, and Anasuya Bharadwaj. Picking up from where Pushpa: The Rise (2021) concluded, Sukumar’s latest offering promises an electrifying continuation of this gripping tale.
