Captain America: Civil War (2016) is a superhero action film based on the Marvel Comics character Captain America and the 13th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo and written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the film stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Jeremy Renner, and Tom Holland in his MCU debut as Spider-Man.
Following a series of destructive global incidents involving the Avengers, governments around the world introduce the Sokovia Accords, a set of regulations designed to place the superhero team under official oversight.
