All-Star Cast and the Russo Brothers Return for the 2026 Blockbuster

Los Angeles, July 3, 2025 — Marvel Studios has officially announced the start of production on its highly anticipated film, Avengers: Doomsday, set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026.

The announcement was made during a multi-hour global livestream event where Marvel teased fans with key details — including a star-studded ensemble cast and the return of veteran directors Anthony and Joe Russo, who previously helmed Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame.

Massive Ensemble Cast Revealed

Marvel unveiled a long list of cast members set to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, bringing together beloved MCU heroes and new additions. Confirmed names include:

Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Tenoch Huerta Mejía, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Kelsey Grammer, Lewis Pullman, Danny Ramirez, Joseph Quinn, David Harbour, Winston Duke, Hannah John-Kamen, and Tom Hiddleston.

Adding to the excitement, several iconic X-Men actors will also join the cast: Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, and James Marsden.

Actors Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal, and Robert Downey Jr. have also been confirmed.

Robert Downey Jr. Returns as Victor Von Doom

In one of the biggest reveals from San Diego Comic-Con 2024, the Russo brothers confirmed that Robert Downey Jr., who portrayed Tony Stark/Iron Man in 10 MCU films, will return — not as a hero, but as the infamous Marvel villain Victor Von Doom.
