Smurfs (2025) is a vibrant live-action/animated musical fantasy comedy directed by Chris Miller and written by Pam Brady, based on Peyo’s beloved comic book series. This reboot features Rihanna as Smurfette, who also produces and contributes original songs, leading a star-studded voice cast including James Corden, Nick Offerman, Sandra Oh, and more.
When Papa Smurf is kidnapped by evil wizards Razamel and Gargamel, Smurfette and a team of Smurfs—including the mysterious No Name Smurf—embark on a magical, globe-spanning adventure from Smurf Village to Paris, the Australian outback, and beyond. Along the way, they team up with disco-dwelling allies, battle quirky creatures, and confront dark magic in a bid to save their world—and possibly all of reality.
Smurfs premiered in Brussels on June 28, 2025, and was released in the U.S. on July 18 by Paramount Pictures. Despite negative reviews, the film’s bold visuals, musical numbers, and celebrity voice cast have drawn attention. Animation is provided by Cinesite.
