Richard Ellef Ayoade is a multi-award-winning British comedian, actor, filmmaker, broadcaster, author, and narrator, born in London. He rose to prominence with the cult hit Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace, which he co-wrote, directed, and starred in, followed by his BAFTA-winning role as Moss in The IT Crowd. Ayoade made his feature directorial debut with Submarine (2010), a BAFTA-nominated coming-of-age film, and followed it with The Double (2013), co-written with Avi Korine. He is also the author of several books, including Ayoade on Ayoade: A Cinematic Odyssey (2014). A true film enthusiast, Ayoade is married to actress/producer Lydia Fox, and they live in England.
