Biography

Josh James Brolin (born February 12, 1968) is an American actor known for his wide-ranging film career spanning nearly four decades. The son of actor James Brolin, he first gained fame for his role in the adventure classic The Goonies (1985). Following a period of lower-profile work, Brolin’s career resurged with the acclaimed crime drama No Country for Old Men (2007) and his Academy Award-nominated performance as Dan White in the biopic Milk (2008).

He went on to star in notable films including W. (2008), True Grit (2010), Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (2010), Men in Black 3 (2012), Oldboy (2013), Inherent Vice (2014), Everest (2015), and Hail, Caesar! (2016). Brolin gained worldwide recognition for portraying Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appearing in Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019), as well as Cable in Deadpool 2 (2018).

He has also collaborated with director Denis Villeneuve on Sicario (2015) and the science fiction epics Dune (2021) and Dune: Part Two (2024), playing Gurney Halleck.
