Cody Garrett Runnels Rhodes is an American professional wrestler and actor. He is currently signed to WWE, where he performs on the Raw brand. He is also known for his time in All Elite Wrestling (AEW), where he was the inaugural and record three-time AEW TNT Champion and also served as an executive vice president.
Rhodes rose to prominence during his first tenure with WWE from 2006 to 2016, performing under his real name as well as the ring name Stardust—a dramatic, glittering spin-off of his brother Goldust’s character. He also competed in several notable promotions including TNA, Ring of Honor (ROH), and New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW).
Outside of wrestling, Cody serves as a judge on the competition series Go-Big Show, and stars alongside his wife Brandi Rhodes in the reality series “Rhodes to the Top”. He is the son of legendary wrestler Dusty Rhodes and the half-brother of Dustin Rhodes.
Rhodes joined WWE in 2006, starting in the developmental territory Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW). After becoming an OVW Triple Crown Champion, he was promoted to WWE’s main roster in 2007, where he remained for nine years. During that time, he became a two-time Intercontinental Champion and a prolific tag team wrestler, winning six world tag team championships with four different partners.
In May 2016, Cody requested his release from WWE and began wrestling on the independent circuit. He also made appearances in TNA, wrestling under the shortened name Cody (due to WWE owning the rights to “Cody Rhodes”) until 2020, when WWE relinquished the trademark.
Between 2016 and 2017, he competed in major events across multiple promotions, including WrestleMania (WWE), Final Battle (ROH), Wrestle Kingdom (NJPW), and Bound for Glory (Impact Wrestling). In September 2017, he won the ROH World Championship. He later became a one-time IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion and a ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champion (with The Young Bucks).
In September 2018, Cody won the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, becoming—along with his father Dusty Rhodes—the first father and son duo to hold that prestigious title. At one point in late 2018, he simultaneously held the NWA World, IWGP U.S., and ROH Six-Man Tag Team championships.
In January 2019, Rhodes was unveiled as an executive vice president of the newly formed AEW, where he also competed as a wrestler. He became the first-ever AEW TNT Champion in May 2020, and won the title three times—a record.
After contract negotiations fell through, Cody and Brandi Rhodes departed AEW in February 2022. He made a high-profile return to WWE at WrestleMania 38 in April 2022, reigniting his journey at the top of the professional wrestling world. Championship in May 2020, and would win the championship a record three times. After failing to negotiate a new contract, Rhodes relinquished his position as an EVP and he and his wife departed AEW in February 2022. He returned to WWE at WrestleMania 38 that April.
